Portucel, a Portuguese paper manufacturer, will invest in a new production line for tissue with a nominal capacity of 70 thousand tonnes a year, with an estimated value of about 120 million euros. With this project, the Portucel Group will have a global production capacity of 130 thousand tonnes of tissue a year. The Group intends to develop a business model based on the direct integration of the pulp in the tissue manufacture and this investment will be carried out on the Cacia group site. In the last few months, a number of preliminary assessments have been carried out, including feasibility studies and pre-engineering studies, in order to identify suitable technical solutions for this investment. Portucel hopes to start up production in the first half of 2017.
