Claudio Alfonsi, Ad Fedrigoni 1The Fedrigoni Group has finalised its acquisition of 100% of the share capital of GPA (Gummed Papers of America) from the Svoboda Partners Fund.

«The operation», as explained by the Chief Executive Officer Claudio Alfonsi «is in line with the growth strategy in international markets that the Fedrigoni Group is pursuing with the aim of further consolidating its positioning in high added value and high profitability segments. We are very satisfied because thanks to GPA, the Fedrigoni Group will be able to access the American market of supplies for digital printing with direct and consolidated control which will constitute a solid basis to be able to further develop distribution networks for complementary products. We have known the GPA team for many years, and they have the same work and market philosophy as Fedrigoni: it is an acquisition of which we are particularly proud». The total amount paid for the acquisition is about 50 million dollars (about 46 million euros), which come entirely from the company’s financial resources.

Thanks to this operation the Fedrigoni Group, which today already has a turnover of about 64% on foreign markets, strengthens its own presence internationally, entering directly into the American market of distribution of supplies for digital printing.

The estimated industrial synergies consist of the development of supply quotas of raw materials (Fedrigoni is, today, GPA’s main supplier), the possibility of entering the North American market in a structured way, including into digital toners and large format film sectors, as well as in the self-adhesive paper sector in the United States through a direct commercial network. GPA is an American company, specialising in the distribution and testing of supplies for digital printing such as plastic films, paper and adhesives.

GPA has a consolidated presence in the USA with its headquarters in Chicago (Illinois), with branches and their own warehouses in the west of the United States in Los Angeles (CA), in the south in Atlanta (GA), in the east in Hartford (CT) as well as 11 local warehouses. Like Fedrigoni, GPA has also, for some time, been the Preferred Partner of Hp Indigo.
