Metsä Group has selected Infosys as its IT partner to modernize and develop its IT environment. The multi-year agreement follows a comprehensive tendering and negotiation process and aims to create a more efficient and unified IT setup capable of meeting the group’s future needs. The agreement covers the development and delivery of a wide range of IT services, including application management, cloud operations, workplace services, on-site IT/OT interface support and service desk operations. The collaboration will also involve renewing ways of working across all countries where Metsä Group operates, with the goal of improving service quality, increasing efficiency and supporting the digitalization and renewal of the business. Infosys is already an IT partner of Metsä Group, and the new agreement significantly expands and deepens the existing relationship. A key element of the partnership will be the joint development of IT solutions based on artificial intelligence and automation. Metsä Group and Infosys will leverage the Infosys Topaz Fabric services suite to introduce intelligent, agentic capabilities into Metsä’s IT operations, with the aim of improving efficiency and quality while accelerating the adoption of new solutions across the business. “This engagement marks a new chapter in Metsä’s long-standing collaboration with Infosys, as we simplify and transform our IT sourcing model to meet the efficiency demands of today’s business environment. We are confident in our joint ability to deliver on these targets and accelerate the transformation of Metsä’s IT, powered by AI,” said Kristiina Lammila, CIO of Metsä Group. According to Ruchir Budhwar, EVP & Industry Head, Europe, Manufacturing at Infosys, the forestry industry is facing rising cost pressures, increasing operational complexity and the need to scale AI-driven innovation. The new partnership will combine Infosys’ manufacturing expertise and AI-first approach with Metsä Group’s digital transformation strategy, while further strengthening Infosys’ commitment to the Finnish market.
