In 2025, Burgo Group will mark an important milestone: 120 years of activity. This anniversary not only highlights the company’s solidity but also opens a new chapter of commitment toward a responsible future.

Burgo’s story began on June 21, 1905, when Luigi Burgo founded Cartiere di Verzuolo ing. Burgo & C.. Taking advantage of the surplus of locally generated hydroelectric power, paper production started in Verzuolo, in the province of Cuneo. From that vision emerged a company destined to become a key player in the Italian and European paper industry.

Over more than a century, Burgo has evolved, strengthened its market presence, and successfully faced the challenges of a constantly changing sector. Different shareholders, plants, and generations of employees have all contributed to this growth, enabling the company to adapt to economic shifts and remain in step with the times. “Evviva, in the truest sense of the word, Burgo. Long live Burgo!” stated Alberto Marchi, President of Burgo Group.

From the first paper mills to today’s technologically advanced facilities, the company has combined production excellence with sustainability and innovation. In line with this vision, Burgo has launched the ESG GO2030 strategy, a roadmap that guides today’s decisions toward a circular economy model and greater care for the planet’s resources.

Burgo, therefore, celebrates its 120th anniversary while looking ahead, with the same pioneering spirit that marked its foundation.
