Green Bay Packaging has reported significant improvements in operational reliability and detrashing throughput at its Green Bay facility following the implementation of Voith’s OnControl.Pulping Detrashing solution.
The smart control system, installed and operating consistently since March 4, 2024, has automated key parts of the detrashing process, enabling more stable operations, reducing variability associated with standard timed purges, and producing cleaner rejects with less equipment plugging.
Voith’s OnControl.Pulping Detrashing dynamically adjusts the process using real-time data, enhancing fiber recovery, reducing contaminants in accepted products, and improving operational reliability. The system also allows for optimized mixed paper usage while maintaining the high quality expected by customers.
“Our goal was to maximize pulping efficiency,” said William Cone, Vice President of Mill Operations at Green Bay Packaging. “OnControl.Pulping Detrashing has reduced variability and freed our team to focus on higher-value tasks. We could not see operating without it anymore.”
The solution can be implemented as a standalone system or integrated into Voith’s MillOne digital ecosystem, enabling further automation in stock preparation and laying the foundation for autonomous paper mills.
