Nippon Paper Industries has selected the international technology group Andritz to supply a high-efficiency recovery boiler for its Ishinomaki pulp mill in Japan. The project includes advanced automation and digitalization solutions and will allow the shutdown of one coal-fired boiler and two recovery boilers, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The plant, carried out in cooperation with Japanese EPC supplier Kanadevia, is scheduled to start up in 2028. The boiler, designed for 2,200 tds/d with steam parameters of 8.3 MPa and 505 °C, will be complemented by a high-dry solids concentrator and an ash leaching system to maximize efficiency and chemical recovery.
According to Yoshinori Matsubara, Executive Officer of Nippon Paper Industries, “This boiler will make a significant contribution to emission reductions and strengthen our international competitiveness.”
With this order, Andritz reinforces its global position as a supplier of sustainable pulp mill technologies, focusing on efficiency, automation, and decarbonization.
