Ahlstrom has announced the acquisition of Stevens Point, a high-end solutions company in the food packaging, consumer, and e-commerce sectors, from Pixelle Specialty Solutions. The transaction marks a crucial step in Ahlstrom’s growth transformation and is part of a series of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the company’s product portfolio and its position in the global market.

Stevens Point, headquartered in Wisconsin (USA), is known for producing high-quality cartonboards used in various sectors including food and luxury packaging. With its 260 employees, the company brings extensive experience and expertise, offering sustainable solutions that meet the growing demand for eco-friendly packaging. The acquisition will enable Ahlstrom to expand its offering in the Food & Consumer Packaging segment, reinforcing the company’s leadership in a rapidly growing market.

The deal will enrich Ahlstrom’s existing portfolio with premium products, established customer relationships, and advanced technical expertise. This will result in an increased ability to meet customer needs and address market challenges, including the rising demand for sustainable packaging solutions.

Konraad Dullaert, Executive Vice President of Ahlstrom’s Food & Consumer Packaging segment and Chief Innovation Officer, emphasized that the acquisition of Stevens Point represents a key step in enhancing Ahlstrom’s technological capabilities and expanding its market coverage. “This business and its highly experienced team will significantly strengthen our capabilities, allowing us to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to our customers in North America and beyond,” said Dullaert.

The transaction, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025. Alongside the acquisition, Ahlstrom announced the creation of a new cluster dedicated to Performance Materials. This cluster, which will include the business units Release Liners, Precision Coating, Beverage & Casing, and Abrasives, aims to optimize growth opportunities, improve efficiency, and increase competitiveness. With this change, Ahlstrom intends to simplify its structure, enabling divisions to focus on specific growth areas and enhance attention to customer needs.
