The Global Commission on the new climatic economyhas presented its latest report at the UN headquarters – with the title “Unlocking the Inclusive Growth Story of the 21st Century” – which shows how abandoning an economy based on fossil fuels and waste of resources, like the current model, would increase global growth and new jobs.

The document estimates that strong joint action to fight global warming, in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement, would lead to economic benefits of at least 26,000 billion dollars by 2030 compared with business as usual.

Highlighting the opportunities in 5 key economic systems – energy, cities, food and land use, water and industry – the Report demonstrates that ambitious action through these systems could lead to net economic gains when compared with the usual economic models.
