AFT has completed a major rebuild of the pulping process and screening section at the Papiro Sarda mill in Sardinia, Italy. The project is aimed at supporting the mill’s production capacity and improving the quality and efficiency of its recycled fibre processing.
The upgrade includes improvements to the pulping and coarse screening processes, with the installation of a new detrashing system and upgraded coarse screening equipment, as well as new HB screen technology. AFT also provided process and plant engineering, start-up and commissioning services.
Papiro Sarda produces recycled papers for packaging and converting applications, including testliner and fluting, using recovered fibre as a key raw material. The project strengthens the mill’s ability to process recovered OCC while improving the quality of the resulting paper products.
