Tissue paper and products manufactuer Essity www.essity.com plans to shut down one tissue production line at the company’s Nokia site in Finland. The closure is planned for the end of the third quarter and will result in a reduction of maximum of 30 jobs, Essity said.
The employee’s representatives have been already informed and the statutory negotiations kicked off on 25th March.
According to Essity, the proposed closure of the smaller of the two paper machines is part of an organisational restructuring at the Nokia mill with the goal to reduce overcapacity and improve efficiency. The programme also entails a EUR 4 million investment at the site.
