The Finnish Competition Authority has approved an agreement whereby Metsä Fibre, part of the Metsä Group, will integrate the maintenance functions of its production plants into its organisation as of 1 January 2023. Currently, maintenance of the Rauma mill and sawmill is entrusted to the maintenance company Botnia Mill Service, jointly owned by Metsä Fibre and Caverion Industria.

Metsä Fibre and Caverion agreed to transfer maintenance operations on 16 May. In connection with the agreement, Botnia Mill Service personnel working at Metsä Fibre’s paper mills and the Rauma sawmill will transfer, together with administrative and support functions – around 350 people in total – to Metsä Fibre’s service as of 1 January 2023 through a transfer of activities.
