Two Sides Europe has appointed Josh Birch as its new Managing Director, effective 1 January 2027. He will succeed Jonathan Tame, who has led the organisation since 2014.
Birch has worked with Two Sides for more than six years, most recently as Marketing Manager, playing a key role in developing the organisation’s communications, research activities, member engagement and its Two Sides and Love Paper campaigns.
Under Tame’s leadership, Two Sides has grown into a globally recognised initiative promoting the sustainability credentials of print, paper and paper-based packaging, with activities spanning Europe, North America and South America.
Commenting on his appointment, Birch said he was honoured to build on the work carried out by his predecessor and highlighted the opportunities to strengthen the organisation’s support for members and expand its presence in new European markets.
A key element of the strategy will be the introduction of a new AI-enabled multilingual communications platform, designed to engage audiences across Europe more effectively and make factual, evidence-based information about print, paper and paper-based packaging more widely accessible. Two Sides will also continue to develop its research, resources, advocacy activities and member services.
Jonathan Tame expressed confidence in his successor, describing Birch as an integral part of the organisation who has made a significant contribution to its development. He highlighted his knowledge of Two Sides’ campaigns, creative experience and commitment to members as key strengths for leading the organisation into its next phase.
Martyn Eustace, Chair of Two Sides, also welcomed the appointment, emphasising the importance of the new leadership in advancing the organisation’s European development. Priorities include launching the multilingual digital platform, enhancing the membership proposition and expanding into markets where local activities have so far been limited.
Two Sides will continue to focus on promoting the attractiveness and sustainability of print, paper and paper-based packaging through trusted research and effective communications, while increasing the value it delivers to members and the wider industry.
