Paper and packaging producer Mondi announced an extensive investment programme to expand and upgrade its corrugated board and packaging operations across Europe.
A total of 280 million EUR will be invested to expand capacity and increase efficiency in Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany and Turkey. Of this impressive figure, 185 million EUR will go to its network of Corrugated Solutions plants in Central and Eastern Europe and 95 million EUR to the Mondi Świecie plasterboard plant in Poland. These investments together represent an important part of the 1 billion EUR announced this year by Mondi in expansionary capital projects to accelerate growth in the sustainable packaging sector.
The European demand for corrugated packaging is expected to increase by 2-4% per year in the medium term as customers increasingly insist on more sustainable packaging solutions. To meet this growing demand, Mondi is investing in its ability to supply the growing FMCG, e-commerce and industrial markets with resource-efficient plant and equipment.
