This is a key investment for DS Smith in Italy, which thus strengthens its market leadership in the country.

In the Castelfranco Emilia plant, the corrugator and three machines for converting into finished product have already been activated, as well as all complementary equipment. When fully operational, the plant will house up to 10 production lines, automated vertical warehouses and will have a total production capacity of over 200 million sqm per year.

«The investment follows DS Smith’s significant growth in Italy over the past ten years and supports the company’s ambitious plans for further expansion in the country,» said Paolo Marini, managing director of DS Smith Italy. «The market for paper-based, recyclable and ecologically sustainable packaging will grow significantly due to the progressive spread of e-commerce and the continued expansion of traditional food & beverage markets. The new Castelfranco Emilia site will provide the necessary production capacity».
