Saica Group, a Spanish producer of recycled paper for corrugated board, recently announced that it will invest 800 million USD in the US market, growing through strategic acquisitions or the construction of new plants over the next five years. This growth follows last year’s announcement of SCA’s first US corrugated plant in Hamilton, Ohio, due to open in early 2022.
The plans were unveiled as part of the company’s “Saica 2025” strategic plan.
«The journey to the US market has not been easy, but we are convinced that we can provide products that will differentiate us in a crowded market» says Saica Group president Ramos Alessandro. «We have been encouraged by the tremendous support we have received as we began work on our plant in Hamilton, Ohio».
Once open, the Hamilton Saica facility will occupy a newly constructed 300,000 square meter facility and will include production, converting and manufacturing areas, as well as a warehouse and office space. «We believe that our extensive knowledge of low weight recycled paper production, coupled with the growing demand for cartons, makes this a great time to enter the US market» said Alejandro.
Saica’s investment will also bring around 500 jobs to the market. Specific growth plans are still being worked out.
