As of July 1, Susana Alejandro, former director of Strategy and Business Development, is the president of Saica Group succeeding Ramón Alejandro. The announcement includes a lengthy handover period to ensure a smooth succession.

Like Ramón, Susana Alejandro – born in Zaragoza in 1970 – belongs to the third generation of the company’s founding families, who created it eighty years ago. She joined the company in 1996 after graduating in business administration from the University of Zaragoza and receiving additional training in taxation, strategic business planning, and sales. She also gained experience in a French subsidiary of the Mars Group before starting work in Saica’s finance department in Madrid and France. She then moved to the Corrugated Board division, where she became general manager of Iberia Operations in 2003 and general manager of the division in 2010. Since 2013, she has held the position of director of Strategy and Business Development for the Saica Group.

Ramón Alejandro-born in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, in 1961-has been associated with the group since 1988, when, after completing his studies at the University of Zaragoza’s Faculty of Economics and Business and a Master’s degree at the University of Deusto, he worked and became an executive in one of the board factories Saica had acquired in Mexico.

Later, in 1993, he led the company’s expansion in Europe as director of another corrugated board plant in Lisbon. Returning to Spain, in 1996 he became general manager of the Iberia operations of “Saica Embalaje,” now Saica Pack, and in 2001 he was appointed general manager of the Saica Group’s corrugated board division, with plants in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and Ireland. In 2007 he was appointed executive vice president of the company, and on July 1, 2010, he assumed the position of president of the Saica Group.

In recent years and during the time that both have held their current positions, Saica has focused heavily on increased customer focus, efficiency, decarbonization, the continued drive for a circular economy, talent attraction and development, improving the health and safety of its employees, and maintaining the company’s sustainable growth with Saica’s entry into the United States and expansion into Eastern Europe.

«I am very proud to pass the baton to the first woman president of this company, a woman with solid values, extensive international experience, an excellent education and a brilliant career at Saica» says Ramón Alejandro, who also expressed his «certainty that, with Susana at the helm, Saica will continue to grow sustainably, meeting the expectations of our stakeholders and always keeping in mind the company’s mission and values.»

The Saica Group is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of recycled paper for corrugated board, with an annual production capacity of 3.3 million tons of recycled paper for corrugated board.
