More than 160 industry experts gathered at the EUROSAC 2026 Congress, organised by the European Federation of Multiwall Paper Sack Manufacturers (EUROSAC), held in Bordeaux from 28 to 30 May under the theme “Turning regulation into opportunity”. The event highlighted the sector’s central role in the transition towards a more circular economy, amid product innovation, new regulations and geopolitical challenges.
The European paper sack market continued to grow in 2025 (+2.7%), mainly driven by the food and construction sectors, although a slight decline was recorded in the first quarter of 2026.
Significant attention was given to the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), seen as a key driver to accelerate the shift towards more recyclable and circular solutions.
A key highlight was the EUROSAC Grand Prix 2026, which recognised sustainable innovations, including reduced-plastic sacks, recyclable materials and more ergonomic solutions.
In summary, the sector is undergoing a transformation: sustainability and European regulation are driving innovation and competitiveness, particularly towards more circular and high-performance paper-based packaging.
