Swedish AR Packaging group has announced the acquisition of British Firstan Holdings Ltd., including its subsidiary Firstan Limited. With this step, AR Packaging is now able to also offer locally produced folding cartons to UK customers.
Firstan is the UK’s leading independent packaging manufacturer, producing over 500 million cartons annually at its 8,500 m² facility in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire. The site has a capacity to produce over 1b cartons annually. The company has 140 employees and makes printed cartons for the food, pharmaceutical, healthcare and cosmetic sectors.
AR Packaging already operates two sites in the UK: The plant in Highbridge, Somerset, with 30 staff produces flexible barrier solutions and multi-layer materials. The Rotherham, South Yorkshire, site has 40 staff and makes carton-based containers like paper cups, lids and tubes for FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) customers.
