Cepi ContainerBoard, the European association of corrugated base paper (containerboard), unanimously elected Francesco Zago, CEO Pro-Gest spa – Italy, as new President for the next 5 years. Mr. Zago succeeds Cord Prinzhorn who left Hamburger Group (Austria) in order to pursue his career outside the containerboard sector.

CCB is a European industry association of producers of corrugated case materials, also called containerboard. Activities are focused on primary-fibre materials – kraftliner, semi-chemical fluting – and recycled-fibre containerboard, e.g., testliner. Members thus represent a total European production capacity of more than 31 million tonnes of corrugated case materials.

Francesco Zago was born in 1984, after his Bachelor’s degree in International Business from the Pepperdine University in Malibu (California), entered the family business in 2007 becoming initially the Manager of Cartiere Villa Lagarina, a papermill part of Pro-Gest Group, the leading privately owned Group in Italy and one of the main players in Europe involved in the vertically integrated production of containerboard, corrugated cardboard and packaging solutions, established in 1973 from Bruno Zago. Francesco has become CEO of Pro-Gest Group in 2021, being also responsible for the Paper Mill’s division, which currently includes 6 plants distributed throughout Italy.
