In response to the strong growth in the Polish market, Corex, a subsidiary of the group VPK Packaging has increased, by 25%, the main manufacturing capacity of the Polish Świecie factory, which produces cores and is located in a central position on the Poznan-Gdansk axis. With the addition of a further building, the total production area has almost doubled. This extra area offers space for future growth and new machines. At the moment another drying unit has been commissioned. Various other machines are still being planned.

As well as the increase in manufacturing capacity, logistics have also improved. Thanks to the integrated loading bays, the lorries can now load more quickly and efficiently. “The Polish cores market continues to grow”, explains Roel Verbinnen, global accounts & marketing director. “The production of sheets and paper meets increased demand. The expansion in Poland supports this business need”.

Corex annually produces 150 thousand tons of cardboard cores and edge protectors in 14 sites. The cores can be used in a large number of sectors, such as paper, textiles and steel industries. In addition to cores and protectors for industrial markets, Corex also has a Consumer Packaging division which produces cores for various consumer markets.
