South Africa and Vietnam were the two destinations of the Italian packagingcompanies travelling to other two important trade fair centres, which are leading display settings on key markets with a strong potential of development. These have been the 4th and 5th appointment respectively since the beginning of January within the 2019 promotional programmecoordinated by the Union of Italian manufacturers of packaging automatic machines Ucima (Unione dei Costruttori Italiani di Macchine Automatiche per il Confezionamento e l’Imballaggio) , with the financial and operation support of the Italian Trade & Investment Agency ICE.

After a downward trend, the South-African economy is clearly recovering, also boosted by the positive reform path launched by the Government. Serving as a gateway to Far Eastern markets and with a steadily growing economy for over a decade, in 2017 Vietnam imported packaging machines worth a total value of 261.5 million Euros, i.e. +27.3% compared to the previous year. Italy exported installations worth 28.2 million Euros, i.e. 10.8% of the country’s total exports, thereby ranking third in exports after China and Germany.
