International Paper is evaluating different strategic options for the future of its EMEA Packaging business while continuing to progress with plans to separate the division from the group.
In a statement released on October 15, the US-based group confirmed that it had received unsolicited expressions of interest regarding its EMEA Packaging business and was in discussions with potential bidders. The company stressed that the process remains at an early stage and that there is no certainty that an agreement will be reached or completed.
At the same time, International Paper continues to advance its spin-off plan, announced in early 2026. The project envisages separating the EMEA operations through a listing on the London Stock Exchange, alongside a Level II ADR programme on the New York Stock Exchange.
The company has not provided any definitive indications regarding the timing or final structure of the separation. As part of the spin-off process, International Paper has nevertheless confirmed that the DS Smith Capital Markets Day will take place on November 3, 2026, when further details of the project are expected to be presented.
