Maflex has introduced Ladon Evo, the latest evolution of its industrial log saw technology for tissue converting, designed to meet the demanding requirements of industrial applications, particularly in the Away-from-Home (AfH) segment.
Developed from the previous-generation Ladon Plus, the new machine retains its distinctive bean-shaped blade orbit, which offers advantages over traditional circular or elliptical movements. Maflex has focused on refining motion control and optimizing the balance of kinetic energy, achieving a 15% increase in maximum cutting speed, together with improved precision, stability and repeatability.
“When an engineering solution delivers tangible advantages, the real opportunity is to develop and optimize it further, rather than replace it,” explains Jonathan Ciomei, R&D Manager at Maflex.
Several mechanical improvements contribute to the machine’s performance. The redesigned universal clamp system reduces the total number of components by 27%, while increasing the number of log contact points from three to six. This ensures more effective containment during cutting and greater process stability.
The blade shaft has also been redesigned, reducing mechanical play by 32% and increasing system rigidity. The new configuration additionally facilitates blade replacement, making the operation faster and safer.
Particular attention has been paid to accessibility and maintenance. The compact machine features a redesigned structure that improves access to the sharpening and grinding dust extraction units, simplifying routine and extraordinary maintenance. The blade positioning and dimensional measurement system also supports operators during blade commissioning. Finally, Ladon Evo incorporates sacrificial components in critical systems, including the arm and blade transmissions. Designed to intervene in the event of overloads, these elements protect more complex and costly components, such as motors and gearboxes, helping reduce downtime and accelerate recovery.
With Ladon Evo, Maflex combines enhanced cutting performance with mechanical reliability and improved operator accessibility, supporting more efficient and consistent tissue converting operations.
