Mondi has announced investments at Dynäs pulp and kraft paper mill in Sweden. The company plans to modernize existing machinery and install new equipment such as a new baking plant and a bark boiler, which will improve the site’s energy efficiency. The upgrades will also further reduce air and water emissions and result in better use of wood at the plant, Mondi said.
The Swedish Land and Environment Court approved the investment plans in March 2023. Mondi expects implementation to be completed by the end of 2026. The company did not reveal the investment volume of the planned measures.
At the Dynäs mill, Mondi produces high-quality kraft paper for sacks and bags that is used for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications, such as Advantage StretchWrap, an alternative to plastic-based pallet packaging, and Advantage MF EcoComp, which is used for high-strength packaging such as paper bags for wet household organic waste.
«Dynäs’ modernization program represents a significant investment in the future of this well-established paper mill,” comments Roman Senecky, COO Mondi Kraft Paper. “By producing sustainable sack paper and specialty kraft paper, we continue to contribute to our MAP2030 goals and meet customer demand with innovative solutions such as Advantage StretchWrap, an alternative to plastic film pallet wrapping, and Advantage MF EcoComp, used for high-strength packaging such as paper bags for wet organic household waste. The mill supplies paper throughout Europe and plays an important role in the local community.»
