Mondi has published a new white paper online analyzing the role of “fit-for-purpose” packaging in improving the resilience of the food supply chain and reducing waste across increasingly complex value chains.
The document, titled “Turning Packaging into a Competitive Advantage in the Food Supply Chain,” highlights how shortcomings in packaging management can lead to product loss, logistical inefficiencies, and brand damage.
According to the data presented, 70% of consumers do not purchase visibly damaged products, while approximately one-third of all food produced globally is wasted each year, making efficiency improvements across the entire supply chain a top priority.
The white paper emphasizes the role of corrugated cardboard as a strategic solution for improving product stability, speeding up packaging processes, and ensuring the integrity of goods during transportation.
“Packaging plays a key role in preventing food waste,” said Paulus Goëss, COO Corrugated Solutions at Mondi, emphasizing how strategic design can reduce hidden costs and increase operational reliability.
The solutions presented apply to various food categories, from fresh products to frozen foods, contributing to greater efficiency and sustainability throughout the supply chain.
