New investment projects for Klabin

The largest Brazilian manufacturer of paper and cardboard Klabin is examining plans for the construction of two new machines for paper and for a cellulose line in its new site in the Brazilian state of Paraná. The proposal to invest about 2 billion dollarswill be presented to the company’s management at the start of the fourth quarter of the year. The proposed expansion project envisages a kraftliner paper mill of 450 thousand tons a year and a new line which can produce a million tons a year of rough pulp and, later, a machine for manufacturing cardboard for packaging liquids. Subject to the management giving a green light and according to a timetable which is still provisional, the kraftliner PM and the cellulose line could start to operate in 2020, the machine for manufacturing cardboard two years later, according to the provisional timetable.
