Stora Enso will invest 28 million Euros in its plant in Heinola, Finland. Aim of the investment is to improve the quality and increase the production capacity of the AvantFlute SC product portfolio. The investments will be finalized in the second quarter of 2018. AvantFlute SC is a semi-chemical pulp for corrugated paper, based on virgin fibres. Upon completion of the investment, the production capacity of this pulp will increase by 15 thousand tonnes, compared to the current annual production capacity of 300 thousand tonnes at the Heinola plant.

According to the EVP and Head of the Packaging Solutions Gilles van Nieuwenhuyzen, «this investment comes at a perfect timing, as we expect a concomitant increase in the demand for high-quality corrugated board products to be used for the packaging of food, fruit and vegetables. Besides enhancing competition on the supply side of the market, this investment also makes it possible to reduce the carbon emissions at our Heinola plant».
