Stora Enso announced it was planning to stop production and exit global market for dissolving pulp used for viscose manufacture. «During last year,» said the company, «we reviewed Stora Enso’s strategic agenda and identified our focus areas going forward. We want to focus on and take leading market positions in the segments where we see potential for future growth, namely packaging, wooden construction and biomaterials innovation from lignin.»

Stora Enso produces dissolving pulp at its Enocell mill in Uimaharju, Finland. The mill has a total capacity to produce 490,000 tons of standard and dissolving pulp grades. It will continue to produce types of pulp grades other than dissolving pulp and for end uses other than viscose, Stora Enso announced.
