Upm and Andritz have signed a multi-year collaboration aimed at supporting the development of next-generation tissue products by combining expertise in pulp production and process technology.
The partnership brings together the fibre and pulp expertise of UPM-Kymmene Corporation with the engineering and industrial technology capabilities of Andritz AG, with the goal of optimizing the entire value chain, from raw materials to production processes.
A key element of the agreement is Andritz’s PrimeLineTIAC center in Graz, where tissue producers will be able to test and develop solutions at pilot scale, reducing the risks and costs associated with trials on full production lines. All testing will be standardized using UPM Euca pulp, ensuring consistent and comparable results.
The collaboration aims to speed up the commercialization of more efficient and higher-performing tissue products, while also improving sustainability and production efficiency. The technologies involved include dry-crepe, textured, and Through-Air-Drying (TAD) tissue production processes.
