On June 23, Norske Skog officially started up PM3 at the Bruck plant in Austria after completing reconstruction.
The paper machine was converted from newsprint production to packaging board production for a total investment of 120 million euros. The plant is capable of converting 650 tons per day of recycled fiber into 600 tons per day of packaging board.
The machine’s paper was already introduced to the market at the end of May.
Waste heat from production will feed the district heating system of the city of Bruck an der Mur.
“The Bruck PM3 plays a key role in our plans to introduce a capacity of 760 thousand tons of packaging board to meet the growing demand for renewable packaging and support Europe in its need to replace fossil-based packaging material,” says Norske Skog CEO Tore Hansesætre.
